We all experienced a trance-like state at some point in time in our lives. Have you ever got your mind into something so deep that you didn’t realize what was going on around you? If so then your mind will experience something similar to that during hypnosis.
Hypnosis isn't entirely understood as it involves brain sub consciousness, but appears to help manage pain, lose weight and get rid of bad habits like smoking.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis, also known as hypnotherapy is when our mind is being in a trance-like state. It is attained with the help of a hypnotherapist and is unlike from our everyday awareness. When we're under hypnosis:
- Our attention is more concentrated
- We’re intensely relaxed and calm
- We’re more open to offers, less decisive or uncertain
The aim of hypnosis is to help us increase more power over our behavior, whether emotional or physical health.
It's not entirely understood how hypnosis affects us. According to hypnotherapists hypnosis builds a state of deep relaxation and calms the mind. When we're hypnotized, we can focus intensely on a particular thought, memory, feeling or sensation while obstructing out distractions. We’re more open than usual to submissions, and this can be used to change our behavior and thereby improve our health and well-being. However in the wrong hands hypnosis can turn to be manipulative. Hence always exercise caution and use good references through your friends, family and colleagues.
